Four Hardy Souls Brave the Chilly WX for First AMP Team GatheringFour hardy souls—well, three hardy souls and one somewhat wimpy one—braved the chill for last night's AMP Team meeting at Gallup Park. They included (roughly in order of appearance):
John, WA8UXO was the only one who succeeded in getting something to work. KB6NU forgot to bring the paddle for his KX-1, and WA8UXO, however, succeeded in setting up a 40m folded dipole and making a couple of QRP SSB contacts with his little MFJ rig. He got a couple of very solid signal reports from a station on Long Island, NY and Starkville, MS. Starkville, ironically enough, is the home of the Mighty Fine Junk company. The next AMP Team gather will be held on Monday, May 19. (May 26 is the Memorial Day Holiday). We will be gathering at the Community Center Softball Fields near the intersection of Clark and Ford Roads in Ypsi. (Michelle plays softball there on Monday nights). See you there! |
Hey Dan,
Did you know that the push buttons on the KX1 can function as paddles? I've never tried it myself but at least you can send CW when you forget your paddles :)
